Kansas City Men's Basketball was invited to AAAD (American Athletic Union of the Deaf) in 1945. A year later, Midwest Athletic Association, abbreviated MAAD, was organized. During that time, a basketball council was formed and Kansas City hosted its first Basketball Tournament. Since then, MAAD has formed softball and volleyball councils.

MAAD regions consists of 9 states which are Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.

MAAD is affliated with United States of America Deaf Basketball, USADB, and National Softball Association of the Deaf, NSAD.

MAAD is incorporated in the State of Missouri, and is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
